National Insurance
Corporation
Based in Calcutta, National Insurance
Corp., one of the four leading non life insurance companies of India, has
some of the leading industrial houses as its clients. Notable among them
is the Birla Group.
This
film was shot in Madras and in Calcutta and had a brief interview with
K.K.Birla of the Birla group. Birla's Hindustan Motors is one of the
oldest car manufacturing unit in India.
The film followed the approach of a
documentary highlighting the efforts taken by the company to take care of
the clients' interests and quick and efficient service rendered to them,
which is something unique for a public sector company sometime ago in
India where almost all public sector units enjoyed a good share of
monopoly.
However the film begins with normal
activities at home and in work places. For many when everything goes as
per plan and expectation, insurance seems to be an avoidable expenditure.
But when the unexpected happens and calamity strikes one regrets for not
having opted for an insurance cover. It is better to be safe than be sorry
is the theme on which the film is based.
The film also highlights the work culture
of National Insurance , which always tries to be innovative and
adopt the latest trends in office administration. Computerisation may be
considered very normal today, but some six years ago ( when this film was
made) it was considered luxury., but for National Insurance it was
essential. These points wee brought out in the film.
We deem it our privilege to have done a
film for National Insurance for it is like winning over the competition
from film makers of Calcutta, usually credited with excellence in film
making. Understandably we are proud of this achievement.
