Tuticorin
Port Trust
Tuticorin port, situated at the southern
most tip of India has a historic significance.
The veteran freedom fighter
V.O.Chadambaram Pilllai bought a ship and launched it from Tuticorin to protest against the British regime. Soon after India gained independence Tuticorin was declared a minor port.
When the ports like many other Govt.
organisations were made into a profit center Tuticorin Port Trust
officials felt the need to project the port to the shippers the world
over.
And this film was made.
Concept
The port users look for various facilities
that are available to them, if they were call on the port. The most
important aspect they look for is the turn around time as they call it or
the time it will take for the ship to be berthed goods off loaded and new
cargo loaded and to sail away from the port. Understandably every port
user dreams of a quick turn around. So the film begins with the title
'Every port user's dream" and goes on to present a montage of shots,
depicting the arrival of the ship at the destination, it being berthed
formalities completed and it sails off with new cargo to a new
destination. All these shots are shown in fast motion, implying that all
attention is focused o the ship to help a faster turn around time.
This is followed by a caption that reads
'This is not just a dream, but a realty at Tuticorin' Carrying forward
this theme of not a dream, but a reality at Tuticorin the film depicts all
the facilities that are available for the port users to make it a
profitable port of call.
Most of the shots are live action shots and
present an impressive picture of the Tuticorin port. Added to this are the
shots of variety of goods that are being shipped through Tuticorin port.
The film also dwells on the possibility of Tuticorin becoming a hub port
like that of Singapore port.
The film was shot in beta and edited in non
linear edit suite - Avid It had a number of graphics - both 2D and
3D.
